Make More Art
Brooklyn Artists Gym is an artist studio and gallery facility in the Park Slope/Gowanus area of Brooklyn, New York. BAG’s mission is to help make it possible for artists to further their work and careers at a reasonable cost. Our Artists-in-Residence are from all spectrums of the artistic landscape: professional artists looking for more community while they work, artists who are between private studios, artists visiting from other states or countries looking for studio space for a few months, artists who are working on a specific project, artists who have outgrown painting in their apartments as well as recent art school graduates.
Becoming an Artist-in-Residence at BAG has many benefits beyond the extremely low cost studio. Artists-in-Residence have 24 hour, 7 day a week access to the studios as well as many discounts, including art supplies and gallery rental. AIRs also have opportunities to show at the BAG Gallery and in BAG Satellite Shows. . Click here for more.
The BAG Gallery is an integral part of BAG’s mission to help the artist. BAG Gallery shows draw hundreds of visitors to its openings and during scheduled Gallery hours. Click here to see our list of current exhibits. The Gallery is available to rent for individual or group shows.
We are located in a 10,000 sq. ft. newly renovated space on the third floor of 168 7th Street (just below 3rd Ave.) on the Park Slope side of Gowanus, Brooklyn. The neighborhood supports many working artists, art related enterprises and interesting small businesses. We are near the F and R trains, and within easy access of Park Slope, Carroll Gardens, Red Hook, Boerum Hill and Fort Green.
Artists-in-Residence live all over New York, from Harlem to Bay Ridge.
"We want a place where the artist can come and concentrate on their work, not on the hassles of being an artist. We also want to give artists an opportunity to bridge the gap between the hermetic privacy of the studio and the glaring exposure of a gallery. We want people to explore, to expand and to be able to take themselves seriously as artists.
