These works are a visual impression of a world that lives in my imagination, based on the realities of the neighborhoods of Harlem and the Lower East Side in Manhattan, and the Gowanus section of Brooklyn, New York. The artworks are original cityscapes of the physical routes I take to go to my studio to create or just while I am walking around New York City. All of the collaged materials are from the areas mentioned, wether they are photographs of buildings or familiar store fronts that I took, drawings based on images or photographs of people, and magazine or newspaper references. It is the minute details and imperfections found in each of these neighborhoods that make them special to me, and it’s those elements that stick out in my mind.
