SURFACE : BAG Gallery Juried Show

The BAG Gallery seeks submissions for our upcoming juried show Surface.

Show Title: Surface
Submission Deadline: Extended to November 3, 2008
Gallery Show Dates: March 20- April 2, 2009
Opening Reception: March 28, 6:00-9:00pm

Award: Three month Residency at Brooklyn Artists Gym. Winner notified on night of show opening reception.

Call for Submissions: Theme for show is landscapes. This exhibition will include all interpretations and portrayals of landscape, from the traditional to the abstract and conceptual. All visions of landscape will be reviewed and considered. Images created via any medium will be accepted for consideration (i.e. photography, video, painting, sculpture, installation, illustration, alternative medium, etc.), so long as the object is created by a working artist. All works must not exceed 48 inches in width, height or depth and may not suspend from the ceiling.

All work must be properly framed and ready to hang.


Submission Deadline: The Entry Materials and the Entry Fee must be received by November 3, 20088.

Fee: Entry fee is $25.00. A single non-refundable application fee of $25.00 (which allows applicant to submit up to 3 works) must be paid online through our website. Maximum number of entries: 3 per artist.


Submission Directions: Fill out entry form below. Submissions will be through email. All images must be .jpg files. File size: No more than 1.8 MB. Resolution: 72 dpi. Submission images must be accurate representations of the actual work. Works that differ significantly from the images submitted may be excluded. Submitted work must remain in the gallery for the entire show.



Final Acceptance: Notification of acceptance will be emailed on December 18, 2008.

Accepted work must be hand delivered to BAG between March 13 and 14, 2008. On Friday March 13 between 12:00-2:00pm or Saturday, March 14 between 12:00-3:00pm. Brooklyn Artists Gym will accept postal deliveries of artwork. Work mailed to the Gallery must be done so between March 9 and March 13th.

Final acceptance of entries in the exhibition is up to the Curator's discretion after viewing the delivered framed prints.

Submission images must be accurate representations of the actual work. Works that differ significantly from the images submitted may be excluded. Submitted work must remain in the gallery for the entire show.

Accepted work must be picked up after the show. All works must be picked up from BAG on Friday, April 3 between 12:00-2:00pm, or Saturday, April 4th between 12:00-2:00pm. Any works left after that become property of Brooklyn Artists Gym. Unless specified in application Brooklyn Artists Gym will NOT pack up and mail artwork.


Award: Winning artist will be notified during opening reception. Prize is a three month Artist in Residency at BAG.


Sales: Exhibited work must be available for sale. Work that is not for sale is not eligible. Brooklyn Artists Gym will receive a 30% commission of all show sales. All pieces must be priced at or below $2,000.00. All work must be for sale.


Insurance: BAG carries no insurance for loss or damage to artwork in the gallery or in transit, nor assumes any liability for same. Every precaution will be taken to ensure the safe return of all materials, but the gallery cannot be responsible for loss or damage.


Use of images: All entrants agree that any image they submit to BAG may be used for marketing and promotional purposes directly related to this BAG Gallery show. This use may include publication in any BAG publications, printed materials, advertisements, or electronic media, including but not limited to the BAG web site and gallery show. Any image used by BAG shall carry a credit line of the artist. Copyright and all other rights remain that of the artist.
